When I was a kid, I watched a lot of Nick at Nite. I don’t know why. I can’t explain why I liked it so much. I guess because some of the shows made me laugh. Taxi, The Bob Newhart Show, I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show– stuff like that. I watched them all.

One show I remember really liking was The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Recently I watched the first four seasons after not having seen it since the mid 90s. It was like watching a completely different show– I like it more now than I did back then. How was I even able to laugh at it all those years ago? Maybe kids understand humor better than we give them credit for.

As for The Bob Newhart Show, I think that’ll be the next show I watch on Hulu. Don’t forget Welcome Back, Kotter. I went crazy for that show when they started running it. And I used to watch The Partridge Family a lot, but I have no desire to revisit that one.

Yes, this post is a total copout. Do I care? No, not at the moment.

My favorite early 90s TV memory was my favorite show as a child, Eureka’s Castle. I was thinking of it just the other day…

I used to love Nick at Nite! I didn’t care for Bob or Mary, but I loved pretty much everything else they showed, especially I Love Lucy, Get Smart, Welcome Back Kotter and the Partridge Family. My mom even dug out a Partridge Family record from when she was a kid for me to listen to. I still dream of owning a psychedelic bus.

Yeah, I was obsessed with Nick At Nite as a kid. MTM and I Love Lucy were two of my favorite shows in the 90s. I remember those summer block parties Nick would do… A WHOLE NIGHT of MTM! I never got into the rest of those Nick At Nite shows though.

My favorite old Nick at Night-ish show is and always will be The Andy Griffith Show. I guess it’s because I’m from a tiny little town in the south that reminds me so much of Mayberry. I just think it’s one of the funniest things on TV. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the old Bob Newhart show, but I was always a big fan of Newhart, even when I was a little kid. I still think it’s just as funny now.

I caught “Mary Tyler Moore” on NaN when I was in college and loved it so much, I now own a couple of the season sets.

“Get Smart” is another big favorite of mine. My whole family used to gather around to watch that when my sisters and I were little in the late 80s. My parents would tell great stories about seeing the episodes first-run when THEY were little. And my brother got to see it when TV Land ran it in the early mornings around 2001. He’s a big Mel Brooks fan, and he loved it.
