So, I haven’t had much to say lately, but I wanted to drop in and blather about this for a minute.
In the last year or so, there have been a lot of retro packages showing up in stores. I’ve seen retro-looking Hershey’s bars and boxes of Grape Nuts, and today at Target, I saw retro General Mills cereal boxes. I wanted to buy them all, but I went with the Cocoa Puffs because I haven’t had any Cocoa Puffs in a long time, and if I’m going to pay 2.75 for a box of cereal then I’m damn well going to eat it.
I love the dance on the back of the box. Isn’t that fantastic? Maybe if someone sends me fifty bucks, I’ll post a video of me doing the Cuckoo Bird Stomp.
Anyway, it’s awesome to see companies acknowledging that the past existed rather than pretending it didn’t, as we are so wont to do in this country. Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it, which is why children everywhere should be taught of the horrors of shag carpet, leg warmers and stirrup pants.

That has got to be the greatest Retro box of them all. I started seeing the Retro Monster cereals last year, I didn’t know that they’re venturing into their regular brands! Will we see the return of Sugar Bear?!
Also, my favorite Retro Hershey’s wrapper is Mr. Goodbar’s. That one is AWESOME.

Wow. I’ve seen some of the retro packaging at the grocery store where I work, including the Mr. Goodbar, but I haven’t seen THAT. That’s cool. I’m not a fan of chocolate cereal, though – I wonder if they have a Retro Cheerios?
They do have a retro Cheerios box! I saw it along with the Cocoa Puffs.

Do you remember what the other retro boxes were? I’d love to have have an old school Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berries box!
I’m pretty sure there was Cheerios, Lucky Charms, and Trix.

Yes! This is pretty rad. I thought I saw the retro Hershey’s bar in a gas station the other day. It was pretty cool. I am all for this. I say they keep it up for as long as they want. If I had an extra $50 sitting around I would so love to see you do the Cuckoo Bird Stomp. It would be worth it. You should do it anyway!…while dressed as the Cuckoo bird.

Hey-O!
I’ve actually got the box with the Cuckoo Bird Stomp dance steps.
Needless to say, I’ve practiced the moves and can do that shit without flaw!
Now tell me you ain’t jealous. HA! I love it! Whenever I do the steps its sure to make anybody around crack the fuck up.
